bianca volunteer

Dr. Bianca Howard, an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University, for her exceptional volunteer work with our students. Last fall, Dr. Howard has guided eight scholars in the Future City challenge, where they have researched, designed, and built a model city set in the year 2200, addressing sea level rise and utilizing sustainable energy sources. Her expertise in sustainable building design and her dedication have inspired our students to envision careers in STEM and think critically about sustainability. Under her mentorship, the students presented their innovative city model at the New York City Regional Competition and took home 5th place and won a special award for the Best Land Surveying Practices.
